Dubbed the Gronos, this package for the German off-roader brings a power boost for the AMG G63′s twin-turbo V8 5.5-liter increasing output from 544 HP (400 kW) to 840 HP (618 kW) , while the maximum torque is raised to an
electronically-limited 1000 Nm. An increase in performance for the 12 cylinder G 65 AMG is already in the experimental stage. Alfa Romeo has unveiled its 'Launch Edition' model of the new 4C sports car.

Costing €60,000 (approximately £52,000), the Alfa Romeo 4C Launch Edition is distinguished from the normal car by additional carbonfibre trim, white or red paint, distinctive badging, bi-LED headlights, a rear aluminium diffuser with a dark finish and large burnished alloy wheels.

It also includes coloured brake calipers, a racing exhaust system, an aftermarket air cleaner, a specifically calibrated suspension system, additional front air intakes and minor interior changes.

Powered by a 237bhp turbocharged four-cylinder Alfa Romeo 1750 TBi engine, coupled with Alfa's TCT dual-clutch transmission, official figures state that the 4C can accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds. Its top speed is "in excess" of 155mph.

Only 400 will be available in Europe, Africa and the Middle East; 500 will be sold in North America and 100 in the rest of the world.

Each Launch Edition additionally grants the buyer the opportunity to take part in an event in Italy that includes a driver training session.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Launch Edition is available to order now for around £52,000. Pricing for the standard 4C has yet to be announced but it's thought to be less than £50,000.

Porsche has revealed its next-generation race car for the road: the latest 911 GT3.

But the mightiest of all the naturally aspirated 911s has a shock in store: it will only be available with a twin-clutch PDK gearbox – there’s no manual option.

Wolfgang Hatz, Porsche’s head of research and development, explained his decision to offer the GT3 only with the PDK gearbox: “Because it improves the performance – drive it for the first time and you’ll think it’s impossible to be this good. It’s the fastest transmission in the world.

“No final decision has been made whether the GT3 RS will be auto only too, but it’s a possibility,” Hatz added. “You have to think, is it worth doing all the development and testing if it’s only for 100 cars? We have limited resources.”

Power comes from a 468bhp, 3.8-litre flat-six engine, which rockets the GT3 from 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and on to a 196mph top speed.

Clever tech includes rear-wheel steering that helps manoeuvrability at low speed and stability at high speed.

The car weighs 13 per cent less than the old model, at 1,430kg. This has been achieved with extensive use of aluminium and the fitting of a carbon fibre/fibreglass wing.

Prices will start at £100,540 with first deliveries in November.

McLaren P1 revealed

The McLaren P1 hypercar has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, and we have the full details on its staggering 903bhp petrol-electric powertrain, which allows for 0-124mph in less than seven seconds – quicker than a Bugatti Veyron Super Sports.

The outlandish design has made the transition from concept to production almost unchanged. There are new brake cooling ducts ahead of the front wheels, but you won’t spot too many other tweaks.

The P1 and uses a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 – developed from the one in the 12C – and an electric motor. Both send power to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The 3.8-litre engine delivers 727bhp at 7,500rpm and 720Nm of torque from 4,000rpm, while the electric motor produces
176bhp and maximum torque of 260Nm from zero rpm.

Performance is staggering, with 0-62mph in under three seconds and 0-186mph in less than 17, which is nine seconds quicker than the McLaren F1 hypercar of the nineties. Top speed is limited to 217mph. Despite these awesome figures, the hybrid powertrain allows the P1 to emit less than 200g/km of CO2 – only slightly more than the Toyota GT 86.

An IPAS (Instant Power Assist System) button on the steering wheel allows for the full 176bhp from the electric motor to be instantly available, providing an electric boost like the KERS system on a Formula One car.

Another F1-inspired feature is the Drag Reduction System (DRS). Activated by another button on the steering wheel, it reduces the angle of the wing to lower drag by 23 per cent.

An E-mode is available for the powertrain, which allows the P1 to run for around six miles on electric power alone. The battery is charged by the engine, but can also be plugged in for a full recharge in about two hours.

Just 375 P1s will be sold across Europe, and each will cost from £866,000 – pitching it against the new Ferrari Enzo successor, which is also set to debut at Geneva.
