Lamborghini Gallardo replacement touted for Frankfurt motor show debut

It was only this week that we learned about Lamborghini's plans to preview a replacement for the 10 year old (!) and very successful with more than 10,000 examples built to date, Gallardo, at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in the beginning of September with a concept, reportedly named Carbrera. Now, we have a set of scoops shots that are said to be of a prototype of that supercar and which were brought to our attention (and hosted) by the Italian site Carpassion.
There's too much going on in terms of camouflage and fake panels to know what it looks like underneath, but the tester does seem to be of a similar size to the Gallardo.
German magazine AutoMotorunSport said that the next Gallardo will be based on the second generation Audi R8's lighter platform using a modified version of the current 5.2-liter V10 engine, possibly with around 600 horses, linked to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The report said there's no word on whether a manual will be offered.

Lamborghini Aventador reports for taxi duty at Bologna airport

Lamborghini has invaded another airport as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations. In January, it took overone of the two runways at Miami-Dade International Airport so it could conduct high-speed runs and have an Aventador pose with a Boeing airliner. Across the Atlantic, the Aventador has just been made the "Follow Me" vehicle at the Aeroporto di Bologna, which is 30 minutes from the company factory in Sant' Agata Bolognese.

According to Auto Evolution, it's been done up just like the Fiat models one normally encounters on such duty – it even has a light bar in case pilots don't simply want to follow the noise. Specially trained airport staff will guide arriving flights to their gates in the Aventador from May 6 to May 19, and once passengers are deplaned, they can check out the Lamborghini exhibit inside the airport.

Ouch…Kim Kardashian’s Gates Too Fast for Kanye West’s Lamborghini Aventador

We don’t usually
cover celebrities, but this time we just had to. You’ll understand when you’ll watch the video below, courtesy of TMZ. But don’t open it just yet. The story behind it is that Kanye West had a friend drive his $750,000 (€583,100) Lamborghini Aventador back from service to the mansion of his girlfriend and the mother of his soon-to-be born child, Kim Kardashian.

When Kanye’s friend drove up the alley, the heavy wooden gates already started closing, hitting the matt black supercar on its rear left side. The side panels and rear wheel arch were reportedly left with deep scratches, which will obviously be expensive to repair.
Well, at least the gates weren’t made from metal...

first pictures of the Lamborghini Egoista

You thought you'd seen in Lamborghini with Veneno? Actually, no. To mark a little more the world of sports car, the Italian manufacturer has a very impressive innovation that bears his name.
In March, Lamborghini stuck a big slap visual visitors to the Geneva Motor Show with its Veneno , a supercar out of overly aggressive pricing built in only three copies. We thought we had reached the pinnacle of provocation but the brand Lamborghini in Sant'Agata just authorize another ultra-limited supercar,
whose style appears at least as amazing. This time it is the big boss of design all Volkswagen group that began at the helm of style. Walter de Silva is Italian, maybe it was for him a matter of honor. The Egoista is probably the most car deliberately caricature of our time, it seems to come from a generation of science fiction or garage Bruce Wayne. Self has been presented at a large gathering of Lamborghini organized to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the brand. The Egoista is somehow the star attraction in these celebrations, it was shown before an invited audience handpicked, with very little technical information about it. So that people initially thought it was called Ecosta due to a typo in a Tweet this presentation! Journalist Egoista, this is in reference to the cockpit which can accommodate one pilot and no passengers. It is amusing to think that his style is inspired by the Apache attack helicopter since it has two good places. We know that the car is heavily loaded with carbon fiber materials and ultra -light and is powered by a 5.2 liter V10 probably taken from the Gallardo Superleggera. Obviously his weight should be at the level of the Sesto Elemento concept or perhaps even below, just to provide a power to weight ratio terrifying. This is the moment that a concept car, it is unclear that Lamborghini plans to do. A single copy sold a fortune? A small limited edition? To follow, no doubt very soon

Lamborghini Aventador on fire

Although the Lamborghini Aventador is 4WD, you need to be careful if you want to unleash safely its 700hp even on a rainy day. The story took place in Taiwan and apparently, the driver was trying to impress the passenger, a pornstar called Peng Xuanrong, but something went wrong. The car lost the control and caught on fire. Well, we can say that the date with the pornstar turned out hotter than expected. As you can see in the pictures below, the interior as well as the back side of the car are completely gone and to make it worse, the car wasn't even insured.

Insane sounding Aventador!

The Lamborghini Aventador has proved to be an insane sounding car even with the stock exhaust. When it's hot it shoots lovely flames too. But what happens if you replace the standard exhaust with something less silenced? Japanese company Power Craft has realized a truly EPIC exhaust for the Lamborghini Aventador. From a mile away it sounds ferocious like a Pagani Zonda R and it's hard not to get noticed in the night!

Amazing, crazy, unbelievable, exaggerated ... or ridiculous. To see what each adjective would best suit this version of the limousine Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. We owe to the British firm of Car For Stars, a company specializing in the genre via limousine with driver.

Lamborghini Veneno: born to fight

If you want to be sure not to go unnoticed, the Veneno was made for you, but only three copies to three million have already been sold.

The Lamborghini Veneno is like a race car and its sheet does nothing to dispel that impression with 750 hp and 1450 kg.

You are never better served than by yourself ... To celebrate its fiftieth anniversary, the brand Lamborghini is offered a treat: a supercar that will be talked about in the cottages. By the look of intergalactic ship. Its true performance race car, although it is approved for road use. Finally, exclusivity and price.
Showcase values and know-how of the brand, Veneno will indeed only made three copies. They are already sold. At the astronomical price of three million euros excluding taxes. No regrets ...

750 hp to 1 450 kg

Lamborghini has made the lightweight carbon his hobby, there is the extensive use Veneno. To strengthen its polymer shell for the realization of body parts and trim for the interior. Result is a dry weight of 1450 kg, 125 kg won against a Aventador.
The V12 6.5-liter engine, ready, as it should be in rear center position, for its part, claims a power of 750 hp. The calculation is done quickly: 1.93 kg / hp, is worthy of a race car. And performance tuning are logically: 355 km / h top speed and only 2.6 s to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h. It's mind-blowing! And it sticks to the floor. Because, in addition to its all-wheel drive and suspensions proto, Veneno can count on the aerodynamics particularly studied. Just take a look at the shark fin or the work done on the front to understand, as the bull that gives it its name, this Lamborghini is a real nasty. In 1914, Veneno had mortally wounded the poor Jose Sanchez Rodriguez in the arena of Sanlucar de Barrameda in Spain .

Lamborghini Gallardo "Superleggera" official pictures

Well that didn’t take long did. Not even 24 hours past after our Sunday post on the light weight Gallardo and even though Lamborghini hasn’t come out yet with an official press release, the first official images have surfaced all over the net. And what beauty do these pics reveal; a lustful piece of art, so brutal and so sexy at the same time.

If you haven’t read our previous post, in a few words, the “Superleggera” is a sporty or rather sportier version of the Gallardo that lost 100 kg (220,5 pounds) and gained 10Hp (overall output 530Hp) thus bettering 0-100 km/h time by 0,2 sec over the standard model (3,8 sec vs 4,0 sec respectively). -Continued: Click “Read More…” below to see the official press release & a high-res image gallery

UPDATED - OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

The new Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

The sportiest and most ‘purist’ Gallardo ever

The new more powerful and lightweight series leader

With the Gallardo Superleggera, to be launched at the 2007 Geneva motor show, Automobili Lamborghini presents an uncompromisingly high-performance sports car. Thanks to increased power (an additional 10 hp) and a 100 kg reduction in weight, the new range-leading Gallardo Superleggera is even more dynamic than the already very sporty Gallardo. The weight/power ratio of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is only 2.5 kg/hp, putting it in the top lightweights of its class.

The Superleggera also has the fastest acceleration in its class. It needs only 3.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph); 0.2 seconds less than the basic model, and boasting speed and grit under various driving conditions.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is an extremely high-performance car: it includes a standard robotized mechanical e-gear gearbox that guarantees shifting without removing hands from the steering wheel. The new Gallardo Superleggera can be ordered through the dealer network starting March 2007: production volumes will be restricted to lower numbers than the standard Gallardo.

More power thanks to technological developments

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera’s engine is the latest version of Lamborghini’s well-known 4,961 cm3 V10. Now 530 hp is reached in 8,000 min-1. The increase in power was made possible by the engine’s improved volumetric efficiency through reduced intake load losses and by exhaust backpressures, together with optimized electronic control. Naturally, emission levels observe the strict EURO 4 and LEV II standards.

Higher power thanks to lighter construction

Lamborghini engineers decreased the Lamborghini Gallardo’s already low weight when empty (1,430 kg) by another 100 kg (70kg in the USA) using advanced materials and technologies. The engine hood is made of visible carbon fibre and transparent polycarbonate, a type of material that guarantees lightness and also shows off the magnificent V10. The rear diffuser and underbody covering, the rearview mirrors, door panels and the central tunnel’s covering are also made of carbon fibre. Further reductions in weight were achieved by replacing certain glass surfaces with transparent polycarbonate. For the interior, monocoque carbon fibre sports seats covered in Alcantara were chosen to ensure restraint of the driver and passenger during the intense lateral accelerations that the Gallardo Superleggera is capable of achieving around curves.

Exclusive specification and options range

A comprehensive specification and extensive range of options will be available, with some exclusive to the Superleggera. The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera comes with robotized mechanical e-gear as standard; a sports package including shock absorbers; and special suede-covered steering wheel. The car is available in four colors: Midas Yellow, Borealis Orange, Telesto Gray and Noctis Black. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires (standard) on new Scorpius forged rims accentuate the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. A few of the options that can be requested include the multimedia system with navigator and CD-changer; a rear video camera to make parking easier (with optional rear wing only); a Carbon accessories kit for the interior; a fixed rear spoiler; a four-point seatbelt (not for USA); tubular rear frame or fitting points for later inclusion (not for USA, Japan or Middle East); and carbon-ceramic brakes.
